What is Airspace World?

Airspace World is CANSO's flagship global event for air traffic management and air navigation service providers (ANSPs). It spans crewed and uncrewed aviation — connecting policymakers, ANSP strategists, ATM technology vendors, and airlines around safe, fair, and interoperable airspace.

Unlike Airport Show's terminal focus, Airspace World is where surveillance radars, flow management systems, digital towers, and UTM platforms are demonstrated to national ANSP buyers.

Airspace World 2026 — Lisbon recap

The 2026 edition ran 26–28 May at FIL Lisbon with an opening reception on 25 May. Conference and exhibition tracks addressed digital transformation, sustainability (CANSO GreenATM), safety management, and the integration of advanced air mobility into controlled airspace.

GCC delegations attend to evaluate harmonisation with ICAO block upgrades, Free Route Airspace concepts, and drone/UAS management as Gulf states expand airport capacity and urban air mobility pilots.

  • ATM modernisation and SWIM data sharing
  • Surveillance and airspace management tools
  • Digital tower and remote tower deployments
  • UTM / UAS traffic management
  • CANSO safety culture and SMS benchmarking

2027 — returning to Lisbon

Airspace World 2027 is scheduled for 25–27 May 2027 at the same FIL venue. Exhibitor and delegate registration opens via airspaceworld.com — plan Lisbon if your ANSP or airport ATM capex cycle falls in H1 2027.

GCC ANSP procurement takeaways

Gulf ANSPs are simultaneously expanding en-route capacity, deploying digital towers at new airports, and standing up UTM frameworks for drone logistics — Airspace World is where those programmes are benchmarked against global peers.

Vendor selection should stress interoperability with existing Thales, Indra, or Harris/L3Harris estates and hot-weather reliability for surface movement radars.

  • Map SWIM and data-sharing requirements before evaluating point solutions
  • Request GCC reference sites for digital tower and surveillance upgrades
  • Track UTM standards work — UAE and Saudi drone economies are scaling fast
  • Align with CANSO SMS benchmarking if your authority is recertifying
