Company brief
Etihad Engineering (formerly Etihad Airways Engineering) is the largest commercial aircraft MRO services provider in the Middle East, operating from its purpose-built facility adjacent to Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) in the United Arab Emirates. With a workforce of approximately 2,000 professionals representing more than 50 nationalities, Etihad Engineering delivers the full spectrum of aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services, encompassing airframe heavy maintenance, component repair and overhaul, cabin refurbishment, paint services, materials and logistics, and technical training.
The company holds a number of notable regulatory approvals that distinguish it from many regional MRO providers. It is the first organisation in the Middle East to be granted an extended Part 21J Design Organisation Approval by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), allowing it to undertake major cabin design and modification projects. It also became the first MRO provider outside Europe to be approved by EASA under its Production Organisation Approval (Part 21G) framework — a significant regulatory milestone. In the UAE, the company is approved by the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) under CAR 147 and EASA Part 147 as a maintenance training organisation.
Etihad Engineering's capability covers modern wide-body aircraft types including Airbus A380, A350, and Boeing 787, as well as preparation for emerging types such as Boeing 777X. It offers light and heavy maintenance including advanced composite repair, centralised planning and control systems, automated tool management, and a dedicated Design, Engineering and Innovation (DEI) team for technical solutions. The facility is positioned at Abu Dhabi, placing it at the centre of one of the world's fastest-growing aviation regions, and supports both Etihad Airways' own fleet and third-party airline customers globally.
