The APA-165 family is ElectroAir's highest-capacity diesel GPU platform, designed for heavy-duty apron work involving wide-body commercial fleets, military transports, or simultaneous servicing of two aircraft. Its defining feature is dual 400 Hz AC output — each channel rated at up to 180 kVA — with optional single or dual 28.5 VDC channels rated at 800 A continuous (overload to 2,000 A for two seconds). This combination allows a single unit to power an aircraft's AC systems while simultaneously supporting DC-dependent avionics or engine-start circuits. The towable APA-165 rides on a NATO D40/F towing eye chassis with solid tubeless wheels, an integrated parking brake, and a beacon-lit composite enclosure (IP55). A Perkins or Deutz engine with water-cooled closed-circuit cooling powers the unit; the fuel tank covers more than eight hours at full load. Converter efficiency is approximately 97% and power factor exceeds 0.8 at full load. The APA-165E variant mounts on an IVECO NEXT 4×2 truck chassis and adds 24/48 V engine-start capability via dedicated SHRAP-250M connectors — extending its utility to older or specialised military types requiring high-current DC starts. Error log storage via USB, MIL/CIV interlock mode, EMC filters, and automatic line-drop compensation are standard across all variants. For procurement teams at busy international hubs or military air wings with mixed AC/DC demand, the APA-165 eliminates the need for separate GPU and starting unit assets at each stand.

Best for

Use cases.

  • Wide-body aircraft (A330, B777 class) gate servicing requiring high AC demand
  • Combined AC and 28.5 VDC support for mixed narrow- and wide-body fleets at busy hubs
  • Military transport and special-mission aircraft requiring 24/48 V engine start capability
  • Simultaneous two-aircraft servicing from a single mobile platform
  • High-duty-cycle apron environments where redundancy and dual-output flexibility are essential
  • Harsh-climate operations from Arctic to desert ramp conditions
